METABOLISM
It’s the easy scape goat for all weight issues, says Timothy Church M.D., MPH, PhD. He says anyone that goes to see him with weight issues blames it on ‘slow metabolism’ (I’m guilty of having done this recently). But, the reality is more likely a problem that your eating more calories than your body needs to shed weight or your eating the wrong kinds of food.
Church says that most women will lose weight on 1250-1400 calories per day. Men will see weight change at 1500-1800 calories per day.
If you follow the clean eating philosophy (see my home page introduction for further details) of vegetables, fruits, lean meats, and healthy fats, you will get the best nutrition out of the calories you eat. You can eat quite a bit of food with this plan!
Try to be mindful of sugars and eat on a regular basis (5-6 meals per day). Keep doing weight training which keeps your metabolism going strong all day.
